The Nova Scotia Cattle Producers will hold their 7th Annual General Meeting on Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Best Western Glengarry in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Along with regular NSCP business, the day will include updates on the Nova Scotia Grass Fed Research Project, the Federal/Provincial Meat Hygiene Project a presentation on beef genetics from bioBeef as well as a speaker panel which will discuss climate change and how it will impact beef production in the Maritime Provinces.
Please plan to attend!

NSAC is pleased to offer Livestock Medicine for Nova Scotia Meat and Milk Industries.
In this one-day course, participants will learn about the proper handling , storage and use of livestock medicines. Course materials will coincide with on-farm food safety programs and will lead to improved consumer confidence.
The course will be on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at room 254 Haley Institute at the NSAC.

This is a reminder that there will be a Feeder Sale on Thursday February 16, 2012 at Atlantic Stockyards; sale time is 1:00 pm.
Notes:
Vaccinated cattle will be uniquely identified, all cattle will be sold by order of arrival. Vaccinated cattle must be accompanied by a vaccination declaration.
Producers are encouraged to pre register all feeder cattle as early as possible – ASL will be list pre registered cattle on their website.

Amherst, NS – The newly incorporated Maritime Beef Council held it’s first official meeting of the Board of Directors in Amherst, Nova Scotia, on December 19.
Jennifer MacDonald, Chair of the New Brunswick Cattle Producers, was elected as President with Jim Fraser, Nova Scotia Cattle Producers as Vice President. The Chairs of the Research Committee and the Programs and Policy Committee are Peter Verleun, and Brian Morrison,PEICattle Producers.

This year is an election year in Zone 1 (William Cox) and Zone 4 (John Tilley), a Member-at-Large (David Lavers) will be elected at the AGM.
Members are reminded that they can attend any of the Zone Meetings but will only be able to vote (where applicable) in their Zone.

The Information session will be held on Monday January 23, 2012 starting at St. Michael’s Hall in Baddeck. Note: the Zone Meeting will be held immediately following the information session. The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture would like to announce two beef producer workshops that will be held in conjunction with the Zone 5 and Zone 6 NSCP Zone Meetings. The first workshop will be held on Tuesday February 7 starting at 7:00pm at the Aylesford Fire Hall. The second will be held the following evening, Wednesday January 8 starting at 7:00pm at the Best Western in Bridgewater. Below is an outline of the program. Note: the Zone Meeting will be held immediately following the workshop. See you there!
